About me

Music is in my blood

Music is in my blood. Grew up surrounded by musicians, living room jams, sleeping backstage at concerts, and exposure to many kinds of music. At 13, my life changed after going through my mom’s partner’s record collection: David Bowie, Iggy Pop, The Stones, Motown, Al Green, Stevie Wonder, King Sunny Ade, and Ali Farka TourĂ©.

In University I had a radio show called “Molasses Groove”, where I randomly mixed musical genres to find gems that all shared a thick and sticky groove. Old school days with CDs and records! Later years DJed at parties with two record players and a mixer. Intention is a first for me!

Love many genres – faves are R&B, Funk, Soul, and Disco – w Africa and Latin American flavour!

I started creating and recording songs during the Pandemic, so three years later here’s a collection of my music.

Edge of the Garden ( two versions )

There’s a flower on the edge of a garden
It doesn’t get very much light
The tree behind it
shields it from the sun
Ever so gracefully it’s petals open up to sky
Gently pushing its roots
towards the water
When it bloom it fills the sky with colours
Radiating beauty and love within it’s form

[intro] There’s a flower on the edge of a garden

[verse]

There’s a flower on the edge of a garden It doesn’t get very much light The tree behind it shields it from the sun Ever so gracefully it’s petals open up to sky Gently pushing its roots towards the water When it bloom it fills the sky with colours Radiating beauty and love within it’s form

[verse]

There’s a flower at the edge of a garden that doesn’t get very much light If you ever go out to this garden let her know how much I miss her How much she means to me And I’ll see her when she blooms in summer after winter months have melted away

[chorus]

There’s a flower on the edge of a garden that doesn’t get very much light Though hidden in shadows, she stands so true, Her colors shine with a soft, gentle hue. Waiting for seasons to turn once again, Bringing warmth to her petals in the soft summer rain. Verse 6: So if you pass by where she quietly grows, Whisper my love in the breeze that blows. Tell her I’m watching, though far apart, She’s always the blossom that lives in my heart.

[outro]

There’s a flower on the edge of a garden
